Celtic Thought For The Day #13: Fear Knocked…

We live in storm-tossed times: terrorism, disease, crime, money crises, corruption, invasion etc, all grab our attention. TV and newspapers ensure that.

Maybe, it’s always been this way, and we’re just more aware of it?

‘Fear is the cheapest room in the house.
I would like to see you living
In better conditions.’
(Hafiz)

The answer? Do not give into fear. Fear is a bully that ‘wins’ only if we live our lives in ever decreasing circles before it. So, don’t! Using commonsense , live life to the full.

There’s an old story of someone returning home, after a long absence, only to find seven ghosts had taken up residence. Six ghosts they defeated by exorcism, but the seventh just wouldn’t leave. It was terrifying, annoying, huge and fearsome. The house-owner took advice and followed the somewhat strange advice. He befriended that terrifying ghost. And, being a friend it ceased to be terrifying. It was thwarted, and left.

You are the master of your reaction; can choose your response. Have faith in your ability to overcome fear, and it ceases to be fearsome. It is said that Perfect love casts out all fear.

 Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. No one was there.
